Miles Whidbee
My name is Miles. I originally started my science career in microbiology at UC Berkeley but have since focused my interests on nervous system development and in particular neurodegeneration. Currently I'm working on a project that employs C. intestinalis (sea squirt larvae), for the investigation of Alzheimer's disease (AD). I've been working to characterize the important AD gene, amyloid precursor protein, homologous gene(s) in C. savigyni and C. intestinalis. We hope to show the utility of C. intestinalis as a novel model organism for AD basic research studies. In my free time, I ride road and mountain bikes and play the guitar.
